Color

Deep, complex mahogany amber.

Aroma

A gentle sweetness opens things up, enriched by fine nuances from the Banyuls cask — delicate wine aromas, dried fruits, a hint of walnut and oak. For 43% ABV, it is remarkably soft and inviting.

Palate

Wonderfully smooth and layered. Sixteen years of maturation in bourbon casks followed by the Banyuls finish brings complexity on two levels: first the classic Caribbean notes — vanilla, tropical fruit, caramel — then the elegant sweetness of the Banyuls wine. The two layers unfold gradually rather than all at once, rewarding patience in the glass.

Finish

Long and warm, with an elegant wine echo and subtle tannins — unlike anything else in the range. The finish lingers well beyond the last sip, with dried fruit and a whisper of oak fading slowly.

Overall Impression

Designed for collectors and connoisseurs. Limited to a maximum of 6 bottles per order. Best enjoyed neat in a nosing glass, but also works as the foundation of an exceptional Banyuls Old Fashioned for those who want to push the boundaries of what a rum cocktail can be.

Product Description

For our "Eigner Edition II“ (Owner’s Edition II), we stowed a single barrel of Barbados rum in the bilge 16 years ago and emptied it on August 18, 2022 into a Banyuls barrel where it aged another two years. The long aging period of 16 years creates a wonderfully smooth taste - yet the rum has kept its typical Barbados character of elegance and intensity. Notes of mild sweetness in the nose and a hint of Banyuls on the tongue.

Aged in bourbon and Banyuls barrels. Limited to just 640 bottles.

Maximum 6 bottles per customer.

By sailors for sailors

We love to sail ourselves. David preferably on the Baltic Sea and Jens in the Mediterranean. During a joint sailing trip, we came up with the idea for a new favorite drink. This became JJs Manöverschluck.

Award-winning design

Our bottles come in a striking maritime design. The colors of buoys and navigational beacons are applied to the bottles in a special process and the wooden corks are reminiscent of the many beautiful wooden boats. We received the world-renowned iF Design Award for our design.

As sailors ourselves, we enjoy the relaxation at sea that nature gives us. We notice that the seas are getting more and more polluted. That's why we donate 50 cents for every bottle of JJs Manöverschluck sold to the organization The Ocean Cleanup, which works to keep the oceans clean.

In recognition of our commitment, we received the "Global Green Award".
